Privacy

Your files never leave this Mac.

Reclaim is designed so scanning and cleaning happen on your computer. This page summarizes the product privacy stance as of v0.2.15 and later. It is not a substitute for a full legal privacy policy.

On-device by design

Smart Scan, Explorer, Review, and Clean operate locally. Reclaim does not upload your personal files or disk contents to Reclaim servers as part of cleaning.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t send your files off this Mac for analysis.
  • We don’t store your macOS password — authorization for protected system assets asks macOS once via the normal system prompt.
  • Protected / locked paths are never offered for deletion.

Anonymous usage analytics

As of v0.2.15, Reclaim can send anonymous product analytics through Aptabase, a privacy-oriented analytics service. Typical events cover app version, operating system, locale, and feature usage — not file names, folder paths, or the contents of your disk. You can turn this off in Settings.

License revocation list

Reclaim periodically fetches a revocation list over the network so a refunded or disabled license can be rejected. That is a download of a list the app checks locally. It is not an upload of your files, scan results, or disk contents.

Licensing & updates

Purchasing or activating a plan, and checking for app updates, may involve network requests to licensing or release infrastructure. Those flows are separate from your disk contents.

Distribution

Reclaim is distributed as an Apple-notarized DMG via direct download (not the Mac App Store). See releases for signed builds.
